Client FAQ

Tattoo FAQ/New Client Info

I am currently only booking in Detroit, but if you’d like me to visit your city, feel free to contact me about guest artist opportunities.

My hourly rate is $200,  and a non-refundable $200 fee is required for a deposit.  Your appointment will not be confirmed until the deposit is received. Please let me know if you are working within a budget, so that the design/style reflects this.  For large projects (sleeves, back pieces, etc), a 30% deposit is required.  All of my designs are hand-drawn and customized for my clients. I do not repeat tattoo designs, however, I’m willing to customize previously designed tattoos so that you can have an original piece. Significant concept changes to a drawn design will require an additional $100 sketch fee.

All appointment deposits is my agreement to designate the focas energy and time for the creation of the design and to hold your appointment time, deposits are non-refundable. Please stay in communication with me to keep me well informed if rescheduling is needed or if you have any health or life events that affect your ability to come to your appointment, . I must receive at least a 48-hour notice for your deposit to stay valid but if not your deposit will be forfeited. If you do not call or show up within 20 minutes of our appointment time, I will not tattoo you and the deposit will be forfeited.

Each tattoo I bring to life has a different journey, so please be patient with me and with yourself. Most large-scale pieces require multiple sessions, so don’t be discouraged. I am always here to help plan ahead and keep in touch so we can make sure your tattoo heals properly and looks great forever! Touch-ups will be of no charge if they are scheduled within two months of the tattoo’s healing.

Deposits are preferred in cash at the consultation but will also be accepted through Zelle or Venmo.

Tattoo sessions are requested to be paid in cash, if you need to prepare going to an atm prior or there is one near the shop. If circumstances require an electronic payment, the above options can be accepted. I do not to use Square/credit cards, as they charge 2.6% fees per transaction and ask for cash to cut out the middle parties for this same reason so it is very appreciated as the exchange for all that goes into your tattoo experience.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

Proper preparation is essential to the longevity of your tattoo. Please make sure to:

  • Shower and razor the area of the tattoo (help me save plastic!)
  • Moisturize area leading up to appointment date and 1-2 hours before coming to the studio
  • Please be cautious when applying your own lidocaine products prior to our appointment and please inform me if you do choose to use a product to help with numbing the area. I am not a doctor, and do not know how high-lidocaine ointments may affect underlying health conditions. If needed, we can use 5% Bactine spray during the tattoo session.
  • Eat a big meal, and stay hydrated. Bring extra snacks!
  • Bring an ID with birthdate
  • If you’re having a more sensitive area tattooed, make sure to dress properly, as this is a shared studio space. Wear non-valuable clothes (preferably black) in the area of the tattoo in case ink gets on it. Feel free to bring slippers or a blanket to stay comfy! Per the health department, I cannot supply these items.
  • No aspirin the day of the tattoo (ibuprofen is fine)
  • Do not consume any drugs or alcohol within 12 hours prior to your session, as this can prolong the healing process and is recommended to refrain from heavy drinking after the tattoo for the same reason. If there is reason to believe you are under the influence during your appointment, the procedure will end
  • Keep your day flexible, I cannot rush a tattoo

Also just FYI- I use all vegan inks!

Preparing for Your Tattoo Appointment

1. Stay Hydrated:

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Proper hydration helps your skin stay supple and can make the tattooing process smoother.

2. Avoid Alcohol and Drugs:

Refrain from consuming alcohol or recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before your appointment. These substances can thin your blood, leading to increased bleeding during the tattoo process.

3. Get Plenty of Rest:

Ensure you get a good night’s sleep before your appointment. Being well-rested can help reduce anxiety and improve your pain tolerance.

4. Eat a Good Meal:

Have a substantial meal before your appointment to keep your blood sugar stable. Avoid greasy or heavy foods that might upset your stomach.

5. Dress Comfortably:

Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. Avoid tight-fitting clothes that may irritate the skin.

6. Skin Care Routine:

• Moisturize: In the week leading up to your appointment, keep the tattoo area well-moisturized. Use a fragrance-free lotion to maintain skin hydration.

• Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate the area a couple of days before your tattoo to remove dead skin cells. Avoid harsh scrubs or products that may irritate the skin.

• Shave Carefully: If the tattoo area needs shaving, do so the day before your appointment. Use a clean razor and a gentle shaving cream to minimize irritation.

7. Avoid Sun Exposure:

Try to limit sun exposure to the area where you’ll be tattooed. Sunburned skin can be sensitive and may affect the tattooing process. If sun exposure is unavoidable, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin.

8. Communicate Any Skin Issues:

If you have any skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis) or if the area is irritated or inflamed, inform your tattoo artist during the consultation.

9. Bring Necessary Items:

Consider bringing items such as water, snacks, and any comfort items you may need during the session (e.g., headphones, a book).

By following these preparation tips, you can ensure that you’re in the best condition for your tattoo appointment, helping both you and your artist achieve the best possible outcome.
